Day -2 and Counting
Well, I haven't figured out yet how to rotate a picture 90 degrees clockwise, but this is a pic of my bag fully loaded for my 3 and half month voyage. It's a Eureka 70 litre main + 27 litre detachable day pack...97 litres should be enough, I thought. A few weeks ago, I arranged all the things I thought I would want to bring along for the trip, and then commenced to load it up. Didn't even get half way through the pile. So, I went to the store and purchased a few compression bags, and managed to restuff a little more than half the stuff which wasn't a great improvement. So, had to decide what to leave behind, a couple pairs of pants and shirts, and hardest of all, half a dozen books which I was looking forward to reading while in the monastery. Don't recall having this problem in 1977 when I packed my sack for a 13 month trip. Just a few banking details to take care of and a little more work on the contacts list for the kids before declaring readiness for departure.

Bon voyage Dan. In 30 days you will have either a well rested voice or a new one, either way we will want to hear from you.
